1000 BAGS OF NSIC PALAY SEEDS DISTRIBUTE IN MAGUINDANAO

Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform(MAFAR) and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) distributed RCEF Palay Seeds to Farmers Affected by Armed Conflicts within the SPMS Box.

One thousand bags of certified NSIC palay seeds were distributed, georeferenced and RSBSA enrolled rice farmers in the municipalities of Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Datu Unsay, and Shariff Aguak, Thursday, May 27, 2021.

The distribution was led by Farmer Director Abdulrahman Makabangon, RAFC chairman and Chief Agriculturist Tong Abas with Focal Person Muhaimin Ali, Saud Guiapal, and MMO Esmail KikoDatu Hamsur Zaid and RAFC staff witnessed the distribution.

Further, PhilRice, as Implementing Agency of the RCEF program, allocated 67,400 bags to Bangsamoro Region for this wet season of 2021. Maguindanao provinces occupy more than 40,000 bags, 5,000 for Lanao del Sur, and 12,400 bags for the rest provinces. More than 80% of the targets were already distributed to provinces.

It is expected that RCEF helped more than 30,000 rice farmers in the rainfed lowland and irrigated ecosystem.

In addition to this, BARMMIARC Research Associates Norhaina Musanip, Ali Kasim, Ardishier Esmael, Melanie Pado, Sarah Akan, Esmail Sapalon, Zahabudin Ali, and Haimen Abas facilitated the activity.
