1,200 bags of inbred rice seeds deliver to farmers affected by Typhoon Paeng

In response to the monitoring and validation conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform after typhoon Paeng, the ministry conducted a series of Palay seeds distribution to the farmers affected.

On December 6, around 300 bags of Certified, Inbred Rice Seeds were distributed in Datu Montawal, where hundreds of affected farmers benefitted from the intervention.

In the following days, the same intervention was received by Datu Salibo with 250 bags, Datu Piang with 200 bags, Guindulungan with 250 bags, and Datu Odin Sinsuat with 200 bags with a total of 1,200 bags funded under Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM).

MAFAR OIC Chief of Operation Baharen A. Piang said the intervention is part of the ministry’s response to the farmers in Maguindanao Province who were victims of the recent typhoon Paeng causing damage to their rice fields.

“This program is intended for all of you who were victims of the recent calamity. Its objective is for you to recover after typhoon Paeng and later sustain food security in our Region,” OIC Piang emphasized.

Bangsamoro Director General for Agriculture Services Dr. Daud K. Lagasi reminds the beneficiaries to plant the seeds to serve their purpose.

“We are here to help you, as our partners in food security, we are asking help from you to please do your part by implementing this program thru exercising its purpose,” BDG Lagasi said.

He also reminds the beneficiaries to register in the RSBSA.

In addition, on behalf of his community, Dungguan Barangay Chairman Zafrullah S. Buday extended his gratitude to MAFAR for their assistance and said, “These rice seeds are very timely to our farmers; we are blessed and thankful to MAFAR for showing their sympathy to our community.”

The LGU Datu Salibo and Datu Piang also commend the MAFAR for the intervention extended in their community.

“The LGU-Datu Salibo express our heartfelt appreciation to MAFAR, who always support our farmers, especially in their times of need,” Datu Salibo LGU Samsudin Sandigan said.

Other key officials who attended the said activity were Senior Agriculturists Saban Belongan, Engr. Muhaimin Ali, Norhid Wahab, MAFAR Municipal Officers, staff, and representatives from LGUs.
