53 FARMERS IN BULDON TRAINED ON INTEGRATED FARMING SYSTEM

Fifty-three farmers from the different barangays of Buldon in Maguindanao completed the Training on Integrated Farming System conducted by the MAFAR, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit and the Probinsyano Farm Producers Cooperative. The activity was held at the Probinsyano Farm in Barangay Aratuc on September 10, 2020.

Aimed at supporting the interest of farmers in engaging into agriculture, the team from the ministry introduced them to modern technologies by teaching them the benefits of integrated farming system. This is part of upholding the advocacy of the BARMM government through the ministry in bringing the assistance and services closer to the community.

The farmer-participants were from seven barangays namely Aratuc, Calaan, Dinganen, Nuyo, Kulimpang, Minabay and Mataya. They were all thankful to be the participants who were benefited by the chance to learn and have additional knowledge that will help them maximize and sustain the demands of their farming activities for increased production and income.

One of the significant technologies the farmers learned was modern goat raising and production. The farmers said before, they were practicing traditional ways they acquired from their ancestors. As the training ended, they learned the most updated knowledge on goat production which they can gradually apply that will eventually increase their profits.

Consultant for HVCDP Concerns Dr. Jalika D. Mangacop, who represented MAFAR Minister Dr. Mohammad S. Yacob, thanked the farmer attendees for showing their strong interest to learn significant information that will provide them essential skills for further improvements. She reminded the participants to value every knowledge they receive.

The different useful information were shared by speakers from the MAFAR among whom were Rowaida Z. Kado who talked on Vegetable Production, HVCDP Focal Person Ramil M. Timpolok on Pest and Diseases Management, Saudi D. Mangindra on Pasture Development, Poisonous Plants to Livestock and Poultry and Livestock Program Focal Person Dr. Bai Zharinah D. Mangindra on Goat Breeds and General Management.

Probinsyano Farm Agriculture Specialist Noeh Quitor extended his appreciation to the MAFAR officials for giving them the chance to acquire new ideas regarding vegetable and animal production. On behalf of his co-farmers, he promised to use the knowledge they learned wisely.

The training was made possible with the assistance of Municipal Mayor Hon. Abolais A. Manalao, P4MP President Datu Yamashita Mangacop, MAFAR Maguindanao Focal Person Adam Evaristo, Buldon OIC-MAO Norhanida Manda and other MAFAR technical staff.
