Geared towards sustaining livelihoods for the people of Marawi City especially the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Minister Mohammad S. One hundred sixty-three ARBs from three cooperatives received one unit of 90-HP 4WD tractor with farm implements, one unit corn sheller, one unit rice thresher and two units hand tractors. The other fifteen farmer-cooperatives received eight units of 35-HP 4WD tractor, three hand tractor cultivators, two units cassava grater with presser, one unit cassava granulator, one unit cassava chopper, garden tools and assorted vegetable seeds.

Minister Yacob encouraged the farmers to use and maintain the awarded CSFs to ensure they can help in maximizing their land utilization and production. Kawiyagan, a Maranao word that literally means livelihood, is a monthly activity of the Local Government of Marawi in partnership with the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TBFM) and all development partners. It is aimed at showcasing convergence of assistance from different organizations to provide sustainable livelihoods for the needy people and bring about peace and development.

Guided by its principle “Siyap sa Marawi, Gagaw ko Pagtao” (Caring for Marawi, Love for Fellowmen), Kawiyagan is carried out with development partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization and World Food Programme of the United Nations, Community and Family Services International (CFSI), and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) among others.
