Coops in BARMM receive Php 2.5 M worth of drying pavement

Five cooperatives from Mamasapano, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Mangundadatu, Pikit, and Taraka, Lanao del Sur stand to benefit from multi-purpose drying pavements which the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform provided to farmers’ cooperatives.

On Thursday, May 18, Director for Agriculture Services Ismail Guiamel said the new drying facilities would directly benefit the members of the cooperative and farmers not only from this area but also from neighboring barangays.

“This drying pavement is for the cooperative to use and to further usher in development and help the farmers for their post-harvest process in the Barangay,” Director Guiamel said.

Multipurpose drying pavement is a solar dryer where farmers can dry various crops and is implemented among agricultural areas in the region with their farmer cooperatives and association.

VD Builders and Construction Supplies, Carlson Construction, and Megablue Construction will construct the Solar Dryer, which has a total dimension of 14×30 meters with 100mm thickness and a drying capacity of 80-100 bags worth Php 2.5 million.

NPDC of Mangundadatu LGU Nasirin Napi said, “The Local Government Unit of Mangundadatu is grateful for all the effort of MAFAR in helping the coops in Barangay Daladagan in drying their crops to reduce post-harvest losses.”

The five beneficiaries are Pidsandawan Farmers Producer Cooperative, Roda Al-Maktoum Agriculture Cooperative, Daladagan Amana Agriculture Cooperative, Lagunde Pambua Irrigators Association, INC., and Mangayao Farmers Livelihood Producer Cooperative.
