DA-PRDP Training and Workshop on Establishing a Geo-Mapping System
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform through Engineering Division and Information Communication Technology Section participated in the Training and Workshop on Establishing a Geo-Mapping System to Enhance Monitoring, Governance, and Quality of Investments Supported by the Department of Agriculture on February 27-March 3, at Apo View Hotel, Davao City.
The activity was conducted by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project to mainstream the PRDP Processes to the DA regular programs and projects.It was participated by the Regional Agriculture Engineers and Information Communication Technology personnel of the Department of Agriculture and other agencies across the Philippines.
The training emphasized the importance of the utilization of Applied Geotagging Technology (AGT) for subproject monitoring and supervision, and utilization of ICT tools to develop a web-based monitoring system.
During the workshop, the participants conducted an actual geotagging on the DA-PRDP Farm-to-Market Road subproject in Davao del Sur. Data Processing and utilization of Google Maps, QGIS and Google Earth to develop a Web-based Geo-mapping System are one of the highlights of the activity.
It is expected that after the training, the Geo-mapping tools and innovations of DA-PRDP will be integrated and institutionalized to the DA key officials in order to improve the delivery of the services and quality of projects.
