FARMERS IN SOUTH UPI RECEIVE ASSISTANCE FROM MAFAR

Six hundred fifty (650) bags of quality rice seeds were delivered and distributed by MAFAR to the farmer beneficiaries in South Upi, Maguindanao yesterday (May 14, 2020).

Held at the municipal gymnasium, the activity was spearheaded by Tong A. Abas, Regional Rice Program Focal Person, with Abdulnasseef S. Ulong, BARMMIARC Center Manager, and Dimacisil Akmad, Municipal Agricultural Officer.

The interventions consisted of 350 bags (20 kg/bag) from RCEF Program with NSIC Rc222 variety and 300 bags (40 kg/bag) from the MAFAR’s Buffer Stock with NSIC Rc358 variety.

The distribution was done after the courtesy meeting with Hon. Reynalbert O. Insular, Municipal Mayor of South Upi, where he extended his gratefulness for the assistance given to the farmers in the area.

Each farmer received one bag of rice seeds to be planted in their respective area as their start-up input for production.

MAO Akmad said that all the names enlisted shall receive the farm inputs. He then assured the group that under his supervision, all the interventions allocated for the farmer beneficiaries, shall definitely reach their end.

South Upi is one of the farthest municipalities from Cotabato City and the BARMM Regional Office. Amid this fact and the crisis caused by the COVID-19, the MAFAR ensures that the farmers from the area shall have the support they need from the ministry. The equitable extension of quality services and assistance was also ensured to serve more if not all of the farmers in the Bangsamoro Region.

The actual distribution of the inputs was facilitated by Karen Mae Flor Tolitel, LGU representative and Warlito Bansigan, MAFC Chairman.
