FISHERY LAWS AND DRAFT OF BILL AMENDING MUSLIM MINDANAO AUTONOMY ACT (MMAA No. 86)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform conducted a meeting concerning the Fishery Laws and Draft of Bill Amending Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 86 (MMAA No. 86).

Held at MAFAR Maguindanao Conference Room, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City last June 17-18, 2021.

It aims to revisit and review the draft Bill for Amendment of Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act (MMAA No. 86) to reassure its consistency with the provisions of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL). Furthermore, to recommend and enhance a more responsive approach to Fishery Law implementation in promoting sustainable fishery growth and development unique to Bangsamoro, gathering and leveling off issues and concerns.

MAFAR Atty. Maimona Ampuan, Atty. Abbyr A. Nul, Supervising Political Affairs Officer III, Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), and Aiyen P. Bondoc, JD, Legal Services, headed the activity.

The meeting was conducted for Legal Services and Fisheries Sector, and it was funded thru the Support to Operations.

Moreover, Dr. Macmod D. Mamalangkap, Director for Fisheries Services, Norhata Dumasil, Sr. Aquaculturist and Chief of Fisheries Regulatory and Law Enforcement Division (FRLED), Norodin Kid, Sr. Aquaculturist for Inland Resource Management and Head of Fisheries Resource Management Division and Jarmela Mariga, Sr. Aquaculturist for Aquaculture Section and Chief of Fisheries Production Division and Sandra Gamit, Legal Services Staff and Secretariat were present.
