FLOOD-AFFECTED FARMERS IN KUDAL RECEIVE AGRICULTURAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE MAFAR

As the livelihoods of the farmers are currently affected by the extensive and recurring flooding in Pagalungan, Maguindanao, their request for assistance was positively responded by the MAFAR today, August 20, 2020.

The ministry initially delivered and turned over 105 bags of hybrid yellow corn seeds and 50 bags of rice seeds for the farmers in Barangay Kudal, the birth place of Amirul Mujahideen Salamat Hashim.

The request was facilitated by the Office of the Member of the Parliament Abdullah Hashim with the stewardship of Hon. Barangay Chairman Rabbani I. Hashim.

Assistant to the Minister for Operations Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel was sent by Minister Dr Mohammad S. Yacob to represent him and lead the group.

In his message, Engr. Guiamel said with the minister’s directives, the team from the MAFAR is always ready to deliver whatever day of the week and in whatever manner to ensure that the assistance directly reach the communities as part of its advocacy of moral governance.

He advised the group, through the BLGU, to send a formal request for food assistance to the Office of the BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim through the TABANG Program as he believes this is the immediate need of the people in the village as they are gravely affected by the huge flooding based on what he observed while making their way to the turn-over site.

Meanwhile, MAFAR-Maguindanao Provincial Head Abdulnasser K. Badawi and Operations Chief Dr Ronjamin Maulana gave their full support and informed the group that the sets of garden tools and assorted vegetable seeds are also ready for distribution to the needy farmers.

In addition, MAFAR-Maguindanao Focal Person Adam Evaristo said there is a need for the community through the barangay officials to assert for long-term solution to the recurring problem on flooding in the area.

With this, Barangay Chieftain Hashim informed the officials that their Barangay Development Plan (BDP) is ready and part of it is the establishment of flood dikes and he asked for assistance on how to lobby for immediate response.

Political Affairs Officer Asrap D. Sultan of the Office of MP Hashim expressed his gratitude to the MAFAR for its assistance and pieces of advice to the farming community and said it will greatly help in restoring the livelihoods of the people.

The full force team from the MAFAR then crossed the river to deliver the sets of gardening tools and packets of assorted vegetable seeds to the farmers in Barangay Layog, in the same municipality.

Other active members of the team were MAFAR Regional Corn Program Focal Person Akmad A. Abdullah, Information Officer Salembai A. Abdullah, Program Assistants Engr. Fahmi U. Acob and Engr. Muhaimin Ali, and Admin Assistant V of the BTA Warda K. Hashim.
