FORTY-THOUSAND PIECES OF TILAPIA FINGERLINGS DISTRIBUTED TO BENEFICIARIES IN D.O.S MAGUINDANAO

Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) distributed a total of Forty-Thousand pieces of Tilapia fingerlings to the members of the Barangay Nabalawag Fisheries Farmers Association (BNFFA) of Brgy. Nabalawag, Midsayap under the BARMM Special Geographical Areas, March 25, 2021, at MAFAR D.O.S. Freshwater Fish Farm & Hatchery, MSU Compound, Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

The activity was graced by Dr. Macmod D. Mamalangkap, Director for Fisheries Services, and Chief Hairodin T. Arap, Fisheries Resource Management Division cum OIC together with the chairman of BBNFA, Mr. Sahabudin M. Dubpaleg.

“Grateful for the presence of the fisherfolk beneficiaries And the MAFAR-Fisheries is promoting Stock Enhancement Program for Sustainable Agri-Fishery Growth and Development,” Mamalangkap said.

Mamalangkap added, “I encourage the recipients to develop good aquaculture practices by using a good quality feed of the proper size and nutritional value (protein, vitamins, and minerals) for the size of fish being cultured is essential to maximize growth, maintain a healthy immune system, and reduce feed waste and associated negative impacts on water quality and beseech you to avoid the use of illegal fishing such as using the electrified method.”

The Tilapia fingerlings distributed were of different sizes such as Size 26-5,000 pcs; 22-15,000 and 17-20,000 pcs.

Meanwhile, Chief Hairodin T. Arap thank the “mga pagali” (relatives) fisherfolk that despite the distance from their place they managed to come. And he requested that they must take good care of what has been given to them.
