GO NEGOSYO SOON TO EXPAND PROJECT PARTNERSHIP WITH MAFAR- LDS
Go Negosyo (GN) Adviser Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar met with MAFAR-Lanao Del Sur (LDS) Provincial Agricultural Officer, Pangalian A. Balndong, Jr. and Provincial Program Coordinators on September 5, 2019 and discussed two developmental concerns that would benefit the farmers of Lanao del Sur.
GN, thru Ms. Ginggay is apt to expand Hybrid Rice Production in Lanao del Sur, in partnership with the office and SL-Agritech – a well-known hybrid rice seed company. The project targets a production area of 100 hectares in Lanao del Sur where farmers can avail of farm inputs under Plant Now, Pay Later Plan (PNPL). It aims to increase rice production in the province thru use of hybrid rice seeds and modern production technologies. Side by side with the project is the enlistment of successful beneficiaries to the Masagana 300 Award, a national competition for Hybrid Rice Farmers who will attain the yield of 300 cavans or higher.
Ginggay also said that GN intends to commercialize Cacao Production in Lanao del Sur by initially enlisting 200 farmers who are willing to venture into cacao production. GN and MAFAR-LDS will partner with Kennemer Foods International Incorporated, an Agri-business company in the Philippines that specializes in growing, sourcing and trading of agricultural crops like those used in fermented cacao beans. Under the plan, Kennemer will answer the marketing aspects to ensure that farmers will have a sure market and fair price of their produce. GN will connect the farmers to financial institutions for the funding under the similar PNPL scheme. In the coming week, MAFAR –LDS will come up with a short list of beneficiaries, lodged under Dr. Omar Oma, Provincial Rice Coordinator and Chief of Operations and Marilou Sopocado, Provincial HVCDP Coordinator for submission to GN adviser.
PAO Balindong, Jr. could not thank enough Ms. Ginggay for her efforts to empower Lanao del Sur farmers thru agribusiness ventures. Currently, there are three ongoing Go Negosyo Vegetable Production Projects in the municipalities of Kapai, Piagapo and Bayang , and the addition of the 2 proposed projects are seen to boost agricultural productivity in Lanao del Sur, thru a more active Private-Public Partnership (PPP).
