HEADS OF GOAT, CHICKEN DELIVERED TO FARMER COOPERATIVES IN MAGUINDANAO AND LANAO DEL SUR

The team from MAFAR crossed a river through a pump boat to reach one of the remotest villages in Pagalungan, Maguindanao for the ceremonial dispersal of 40 heads of goat to the Ka-Ikhlas Layog Bridge Farmer Producers Cooperative on July 24, 2020.

According to Bai Zharinah D. Mangindra, MAFAR Livestock Program Focal Person, the activity aimed to help the farmers improve the animal production and to upgrade the breeds of goats that are present in the community in Bangay Layog.

The farmers have shown their eagerness and passion in raising animals especially goats, cattle, and chicken. They also expressed their sincere request for rice and corn seeds to augment their livelihood.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) has been supportive to the cooperative and has committed to support the raisers through assistance in the establishment of house and fencing in anticipation and preparation for the increasing production.

Dr Mangindra gave a brief orientation on the proper raising of goat with emphasis on their care and management.

The activity was also attended by MAFAR Operations Chief for Agriculture Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel and MAFAR-Maguindanao Provincial Head Abdulnasser K. Badawi.

A day before the activity, the team led by Dr Mangindra had delivered 50 chickens and 5 goats to the Kalimudan sa Kabasaran Producer Cooperative in Lumbayanague; 20 goats to the Salimbago-Tambak Farmers Marketing Cooperative in Mulondo; 5 goats for Pantar Agribusiness Cooperative in Madamba, and 50 chickens for Bacong Cooperative in the municipality of Marantao, all in Lanao del Sur.

Pangalian “Alexie” Balindong, Jr. was grateful for the continued support of the MAFAR Regional Office through the leadership of Minister Dr Mohamamd S. Yacob.

The activity was also actively attended by MAFAR-BARMM Inspectorate Team Member Engr. Johnson G. Paglala, MAFAR-Lanao del Sur Chief of Operations Engr. Abdulgaphar Sansarona, Municipal Agricultural Officers Soraya M. Manalocon, Akrima L. Dimapinto, Hon. Barangay Chairwoman Esnairah Didato, and other officials from the MAFAR, LGU, and the farmer-member of the cooperatives.
