KEY OFFICIALS FROM BASILAN AND SULU PROVINCE UNDERGO WORKSHOP ON MARKET DEVELOPMENT OF PRIORITY COMMODITIES

ZAMBOANGA CITY | March 30, 2021

A total of Fifty (50) key officials from Basilan and Sulu Province including 32 MMOs completed the Workshop on Market Development of Priority Commodities held at the City Inn Hotel, Zamboanga City on March 30-31, 2021.

The workshop was conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform thru the Agribusiness Assistance and Management Division headed by Chief Dr. Tong D. Pinguiaman.

Dr. Pinguiaman said, “The activity focuses on identifying the priority commodities of each province and develop its value/supply chain per Municipality as the basis for investments.”

“Identifying priority commodities per cluster area will boost some strategies and techniques in linking the produced products among farmers and fishers, ” Pinguiaman added.

The workshop focuses on the ministry’s programs such as Salient Points of MAFAR Food Security and Nutrition Roadmap, The State of Bangsamoro Agriculture, Fisheries Situationer, ARB Communities, and Commodities.

Other programs were also presented in the said workshop including the DataBase needed in Marketing Development Strategies and Farmers and Fisherfolk Enterprise Development Information System (FFEDIS).

During the workshop, the participants were able to create and crafted different programs basically in intensifying the market linkages of the produced product from farmers and fishers and later uplift their economic status.

Furthermore, Basilan Provincial Director Hanie Muadz Junuban said in his closing statement, “The conduct of the workshop will help each official formulate ideas in securing the food supply in the Region and make the foods available at every table.”
