KOICA, UN-FAO visits MAFAR Minister Yacob

COTABATO CITY- Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), UN-FAO visited Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., to discuss the conduct of field mission in Maguindanao and Cotabato on June 6.

The KOICA activities were lined up for the field mission, including project visits to selected CBO enterprises under the “Support to Agriculture and Agribusiness Enterprises in Mindanao for Sustainable Development” (GCP/PHI/069/ROK) project. Also, a face-to-face Project Coordination Committee (PCC) Meeting is part of the mission itinerary from 6-8 June 2022.

During the meeting, Minister Yacob said the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, together with KOICA, had been with the ARMM government until the transition of the BARMM government to extend their support, especially in MAFAR.

Minister acknowledged the effort of the international agency to assist the ministry’s program for the Bangsamoro farmers, fisherfolks, and agrarian reform beneficiaries.

“Despite the challenges we are facing, especially the global pandemic, we are grateful for the partnership of UN-FAO, KOICA, and MAFAR,” Minister added.

In response, KOICA and UN-FAO said every project is primarily essential for the Bangsamoro people to improve their lives. Also, they thanked minister Yacob for the beneficial insights and guaranteed continued support for implementing projects in the BARMM.
