LDS farmers, fisherfolks to benefit from P30-million worth of Ice Plant with Cooler Storage

LANAO DEL SUR – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, in its effort to improve the livelihood of farmers and fisherfolks is establishing the first Ice Plant with Cooler Storage.

On June 13, Engr. Ashnairah A. Abdullah, Chief of Engineering Section, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the P30-million worth facility at GMA Integrated Terminal, Barangay Poblacion, Marawi City.

The facility consists of 648 square meters building worth P11.8-M, an Ice Plant with machinery worth P13.3-M, a Delivery Truck worth P2-M, a Genset worth P1.7-M, and a Transformer worth P840,164 with a total of P30-M.

MAFAR-LDS Chief Agriculturist Abdulgafar L. Sansarona, in his message, emphasized the importance of the project in the town.

“Once the project is completed, our farmers can store their fresh products, and our fishers can avail ice blocks for a very minimal cost,” said Sansarona.

With the capacity of 10-Tons, the construction of the building is expected to finish within 120 days by the CPG Contractor Services.

Meanwhile, Chief City Agriculture Officer Anisa Busara said they were grateful for being the pioneering beneficiary of Ice Plant. The project will be a big help not only for the farmers and fisherfolks but the whole community of Marami City as well.

Among the attendees to the groundbreaking ceremony were the MAFAR-LDS Chief of Fisheries, Alnizar G. Dimaporo, CARPO Rocaina A. Mindalano, CPG Contractor Services representatives, staff, and officials of MAFAR-BARMM.
