The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR-BARMM) kicked off the celebration of the first Farmers and Fisherfolk’s Month in the Bangsamoro region with a parade on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in Cotabato City.
With the theme, “Magsasaka’t Mangingisdang Pilipino, Saludo Buong Bansa sa Sipag , Tibay, at Lakas Ninyo”, the month-long celebration aims to honor and recognize the significant role of the Bangsamoro farmers and fisherfolks in our society.

MAFAR Minister Mohammad S. Yacob said the farmers as well as the fisherfolks are considered to be heroes. “Hindi tayo mabubuhay kung wala sila. This time, we let them feel that we are behind them, we are supporting them in whatever they need. We let them know that this government is willing to provide all their needs as much as it can,”he added.

The month-long celebration includes activities such as mini trade fairs with agriculture products, ball games, and Mohadara. It will culminate on June 6, simultaneous with the Eid’l Fitr Festival.
