MAFAR-BARMM URGE FARMERS TO INCREASE GOAT PRODUCTION

In the province of Maguindanao, goat raising is slowly becoming popular as its local government units hopes to have its own goat center in the future.
To jump-start, the project, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform with its partners Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit (PPMIU), Project Support Office (PSO), Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) team from MAFAR I-REAP Component – Mindanao Cluster distributed 510,000 total amount 1st batch delivery of goatson Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to beneficiaries from the town’s of Buluan and Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao.
The goat dispersal program of the MAFAR-PRDP aims to boost the income of its farmers as they encouraged to diversify their source of livelihood.
Director for Agriculture Services Engr. Ismail Guiamel, said “The main goal of our distributed project under PRPD in partnership with the MAFAR and the Local Government of Maguindanao is to increase the production of livestock and our farmers will have an adequate income for their families.”
After receiving the goats, 35-year-old Roseda Mohammad Chairwoman of Kalian Bangsamoro Womens Agri Marketing Cooperative said “Goat production is economically valuable in the province, as it low maintenance and is easy to take care of.”
“Dati ay nahihirapan kami na mag alaga ng kambing dahil sa makaluma naming pamamaraan ng pagaalaga ng kambing, masaya kami at nabigyan kami ng ganitong programa.”
Aside from providing farming inputs, MAFAR has also provided various programs that can give knowledge to the people of Buluan and Rajah Buayan regarding proper goat production and management, simple bookkeeping and recordkeeping, and enterprise operation manual.
It is also expected that such programs of the ministry will extend to its neighboring provinces in the BARMM.
All partners involved urged the communities to take good care of the goats until they have reproduced to sustain this livelihood support.
