MAFAR CONDUCTS APSC MEETING TO ADDRESS AGRARIAN REFORM ISSUES IN BARMM

“We should have one direction, one perspective, one unified solution.”

This was the statement highlighted by MAFAR-BARMM Minister Mohammad S. Yacob as he led the first “Accountability and Problem Solving Committee (APSC) Meeting for 2019” held yesterday, November 5, at Seda Abreeza Hotel, Davao City.

The message was well-received by the high-ranking officials of MAFAR-BARMM, its Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers (PARO) II and agrarian reform regional division chiefs.

Strategies and recommendations were formulated by the Committee to address pressing issues that substantially affect agrarian reform program implementations in BARMM. These include the region-wide profiling of agrarian reform beneficiaries, the status of land tenure services and administrative concerns on the separation from service of MAFAR-BARMM employees.

The APSC consists of the Minister as the chairperson, with the PARO II of the five provinces of BARMM as its regular members. The Committee has the ultimate responsibility of setting strategic directions to guide and direct the activities of the agrarian reform sector and providing decisions and solutions to the long-standing problems and key management issues.

Other high-ranking officials of MAFAR have also attended the APSC meetings by invitation for them to share their expertise as additional guidance for the APSC members to arrive at a sound decision.

At the end of the whole-day meeting, the Committee was able to craft decisions and resolutions to address the identified problems and hindrances affecting agrarian reform implementation in BARMM.
