MAFAR DELIVERS ALMOST 2K BAGS OF FERTILIZERS FOR FARMERS IN LANAO DEL SUR

For the establishment of hybrid rice model farms in Lanao del Sur, 1,850 bags of fertilizers were delivered by MAFAR intended to benefit 400 farmers in four rice-producing municipalities on April 22, 2020.

Tong A. Abas, Rice Program Focal Person, said three wing vans, one panel van, one forward truck, and escort ankara an elf truck, traversed the long and winding road and series of quarantine checkpoints from Cotabato City to the municipalities of Bubong, Lumba-Bayabao, Maguing, and Masiu, to ensure the delivery and receipt of 350, 500, 500, and 500 bags of urea and complete fertilizers, respectively.

These vehicles were accompanied by technical team from MAFAR, led by Engr. Muhaimin Ali, who facilitated and managed the actual deliveries, assisted by the officials of the Lanao del Sur provincial office.

Ammal D. Solaiman, Assistant to the Minister for Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, çankaya escort who helped in accomplishing the activity, said the fertilizers shall be distributed to the farmers before April ends to ensure on-time application among farmer-cooperators in the demo farms.

Meanwhile, Focal Person Abas added that the farm inputs were allotted for the farmers who cultivate clustered areas of at least 100 hectares and with operational irrigation system.

Four hundred (400) hectares wide model farms shall be established in the said municipalities with the objective of showcasing the advantage of an increased production using the hybrid rice technology, according to Abas.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected some parts of the region, Minister Mohammad S. Yacob has directed the continued downloading of programs, projects, and different location-specific assistance to the communities with strict observance of precautionary measures to make sure production of commodities among farmers is unhampered.

Aside from the bags of fertilizers, the farmer-recipients had also received 400 bags of hybrid rice seeds and 400 bottles of insecticides and each farmer to receive 2 bags of urea and 3 bags of complete fertilizer.
