MAFAR DISTRIBUTES HYBRID RICE SEEDS, ENSURING PRODUCTION AMID COVID-19
Two hundred (200) hectares of farmlands shall be planted with hybrid rice in Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao after the delivery of farm inputs conducted by MAFAR today (March 24, 2020).
The activity generally aims at making sure that there will be rice harvests across the BARMM despite the complexities brought by the Corona Virus Disease (CoViD)-19 pandemic. It is also in consonance with the advocacy of Minister Dr Mohammad S. Yacob of bringing the BARMM government closer to the communities.
With the identified clustered areas ready for planting in the village of Gayunga, the ministry delivered 200 bags of hybrid rice seeds with NSIC Rc204H (Mestizo 20) variety, 600 bags of complete fertilizer, 200 bottles of insecticides (one liter each), and 200 bottles of herbicides (one liter each).
Rice Program Focal Person Tong A. Abas said 400 bags of urea fertilizer shall also be delivered to the area completing the package of assistance financed under the 2019 DA program funds downloaded to the ministry.
“The area has been selected with the readiness of the farmers and their farmlands and the availability of operational irrigation system as it is indispensable in hybrid rice production”, added Abas.
With the presence of Hon. Mayor Datu Umbra B. Dilangalen, a ceremonial distribution was done with the farmers and the assistance of BARMMIARC Center Manager Abdulnasseef S. Ulong, Maguindanao Provincial Agricultural Officer Abdulnasser K. Badawi, Provincial Operations Officer Dr Ronjamin M. Maulana, and Municipal Agricultural Officer Khalikudzaman U. Macog.
