MAFAR DISTRIBUTES PALAY SEEDS IN THE PROVINCE OF MAGUINDANAO AND LANAO DEL SUR IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao supports the program from Department of Agriculture called Ahon Lahat Pagkain Sapat (ALPAS) program.
The said program is a response of the ministry not only to help ensure food sufficiency but will also benefit farmers, fisherfolks, and the consumers of agricultural products affected by the COVID 19 pandemic.
According to Division Chief, Field Operation, Tong Abas, MAFAR distributes 20,000 bags of hybrid palay seeds to the farmers from Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur. The 18,500 bags was already distributed in Maguindanao while in Lanao del Sur only 750 bags distributed from the allocated 1,500 bags.
Meanwhile, for inbred palay seeds, the MAFAR allocated 19,000 bags for Maguindanao; 5,000 bags for Lanao del Sur and 3,000 bags for walk-in clients.
