MAFAR ENDEAVORS TO IMPROVE THE AGRI FISHERY SECTOR IN THE BARMM

For the improvement of the agri fishery sector in the islands of BARMM, MAFAR Minister Dr Mohammad S. Yacob, with his team, has maximized his visit in the Province of Tawi-Tawi through meeting with MSU Chancellor Dr Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali and leading the distribution of farm inputs to farmer-beneficiaries on March 10, 2020.

With Matarul Estino, Assistant to the Minister for Fisheries and Dr Macmod Mamalangkap, Coordinator for the 63 Barangays of BARMM in North Cotabato, Minister Yacob paid courtesy meeting with MSU-Tawi-Tawi Chancellor Dr Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali and Director Alnasul Sali, MPA, Head Executive Assistant.

Coordinator Mamalangcap said, through the meeting, the contents of the MOA between MSU and BFAR-BARMM, now under MAFAR, were revisited with the provisions and terms of conditions well tackled and agreed upon.

The meeting was attended by Engr. Arnold Morales, Noel Espiritu, and Marnel Carpio of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Manila and the key officials of MAFAR-Tawi-Tawi.

The team then visited the hatchery in the province to identify further its needed developments so that after Ramadhan (April-May) this year, it can be turned over to MAFAR to make it operational and productive.

The afternoon of the same day at the agriculture office of MAFAR, Minister Yacob led the turnover of 100 bags palay seeds, 20 boxes pesticides, 5 boxes insecticides, and 2 boxes rodenticides to Tumahubong Irrigation Association in the municipality of Languyan with the facilitation of Municipal Agricultural Officer Al-Rasid A. Abdul.
