MAFAR HOSTS THE REGIONAL NUTRITION COMMITTEE MEETING

COTABATO CITY | June 2, 2021

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform hosted the Second Quarter Regional Nutrition Committee Meeting to review the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program of the National Nutrition Council on June 2, 2021, at MAFAR Conference Room, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

“The level of undernutrition in the region has been continuously low throughout the years, based on the Updating of the Nutritional Status of Filipino Children in the Bangsamoro Region,” Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Kadil M. Sinolinding, Jr., MD, DPBO said.

He added that aside from these, RNC members should not be satisfied and look at the Ambisyon Natin 2040, Philippine Development Plan, and Sustainable Development Goals to maintain the current state of nutrition in the region.

Dr. Sinolinding emphasized the focus on the first 1000 days of Law, which President Rodrigo Duterte signed.

The objective of the program is to contribute to the prevention of stunting children by improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes, as well as the utilization of related services among pregnant women and children in the target tutok Kainan program areas.

In addition, Regional Nutrition Council discussed the presentation of accomplishments and updates on RPAN’s nutrition-specific programs and nutrition-sensitive programs.

Each agency was also allowed to present their prepared programs regarding the activity, including Pendatun Patarasa, Asst. to the Minister on Special Concern of MAFAR.

Twenty-five Regional Government Agencies and four members from National Nutrition Committee attended the meeting.
