An African Swine Fever(ASF) Orientation conducted at the Municipal Gymnasium of South Upi, Maguindanao attended and participated by a total number of 24 participants from the different Barangay Local Government Units, Market Administration, Sangguniang Bayan, Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council of the said my municipality.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Chris Joy Gersalino Pangol from the Bureau of Animal Industry served as the Resource Person in the activity who discussed about the origin, symptoms, biosecurity measures, socio-economic impact, permits or documents needed, and other issues related to ASF.

According to MMO Seeham Pangol, the activity was very timely due to the height of ASF, resulting to shortages of pork and other pork products in the market today.

Barangay officials were enlightened on the issue as wrong information were passed on resulting to slaughtering of hogs in their area for no reason at all and many backyard hog raisers stopped their operations on fear of ASF infestation.

MAFAR-South Upi, were thankful for the favorable response given by the participants and to the efforts and support of the LGU- South Upi headed by Hon. Mayor Reynalbert O. Insular.

With this knowledge imparted, the LGU and BLGUs would now be ready to battle the deadly AFRICAN SWINE FEVER and prevent it from entering the municipality.
