MAFAR MARKS 33RD CARP ANNIVERSARY THRU TREE PLANTING

In a bid to address economic development and tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform – BARMM has mobilized agrarian reform beneficiaries for planting 750 seedlings on a portion of land in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao.

The tree planting activity marked the celebration of the 33rd Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program anniversary with the simultaneous launching of Agrarian Reform signages in the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

The reforestation activity is a measure seen to strengthens public awareness on promoting ARCs as eco-tourism site by providing variety of agricultural products. Director for Agrarian Reform Services Taugan S. Kikay Ph. D, who led the activity, said the program is relevant to this year’s CARP anniversary theme “LUPA; Kabuhayan ko, Paunlarin ko.

This is one way to make farmers feel their importance in economic development as it emphasizes the importance of land and its impact on the lives of the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs). As the lead ministry in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, MAFAR is also mandated to ensure that all lands awarded to beneficiaries are cultivated and developed.” He continued

“We celebrate and give tribute to the significance of land towards attaining food sustainability and livelihood .” He added.

Jarratul Rajid, CARPO for Land Acquisition and Distribution Division said that “Since this is the first time the MAFAR-BARMM celebrate CARP anniversary, We will give different variety of fruit trees to SAMBIAR Farmers and Fishermen Multipurpose Cooperative with a hope that these seedlings will grow well and contribute to the economy of the ARC.

Provincial Director for Maguindanao Ronjamin Maulana, for his part, expressed gratitude to the Farmers and Fisherfolk who have constantly shown support to the programs and activities of the MAFAR.

“I am thankful for our agrarian reform beneficiaries who devoted their time to plant trees today,” he said, adding that “Owing the fact that this community has been proven in properly managing their livelihood, they deserve to continue to be given economic assistance.”
