MAFAR MINISTER SPEAKS ON THE AGRICULTURE IN THE BARMM FOR MAP-ABCD

Minister Dr Mohammad S. Yacob of the MAFAR served as guest speaker and talked about the ‘Agriculture and Countryside Development in the BARMM’ in the weekly forum of the Management Association of the Philippines Agribusiness and Countryside Development (MAP-ABCD) held today (July 28, 2020) via Zoom.

The MAP-ABCD has been in the forefront of policy advocacy and promotion of agribusiness and countryside development since 1996. Chairman Ilusorio said their Board of Trustees and members are composed of active and retired men and women who are now successful entrepreneurs, owners of medium and large-scale businesses, professional managers, former government technocrats, and distinguished academicians.

The MAFAR Chief carefully discussed and explained the brief background of the Bangsamoro regional economy; profile of agriculture, fisheries, and agrarian reform sectors in the region; challenges and opportunities for BARMM agriculture and countryside development; the proposed food security and nutrition roadmap in the BARMM; and the challenges and lessons learned during the transition period amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As his gesture of eagerness to be of service, Dr Yacob positively responded to the invitation of the association, through its Chairman Ramon K. Ilusorio, as forwarded by the Office of the BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim through Executive Secretary Abdulraof A. Macacua.

Aside from his presentation, Minister Yacob gave his exhaustive participation and answered all the queries of the officers and members of the association during the open forum.
