MAFAR participates BAI’s ASF strategic planning

PANGASINAN- The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform participated in the Bantay ASF sa Barangay program to increase and strengthen the implementers and stakeholders awareness of their role in ASF preparedness and control measures.

On December 5-7, Veterinarians and Information officers from different regions across the country underwent the African Swine Fever IEC Campaign – Risk Communication Strategies Workshop and ASF Strategic Planning Meeting at Binmaley, Pangasinan.

The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) is the leading agency in implementing the Bantay ASF sa Barangay program; it is a community-based approach to preventing, controlling, and managing ASF by applying sound epidemiologic principles and available technology through the cooperation of allied agencies, local counterparts, and stakeholders.

Assistant Director of BAI Dr. Vytiaco graced the activity with her warm welcoming address and said this activity would be beneficial for the participants to strengthen the information campaign of ASF in their respective regions.

This activity will focus on strengthening the collaboration between implementers to develop their communication skills and capacities further.

In addition, this activity aims to review current disease emergency preparedness against ASF and evaluate the current biosecurity measures, communication mechanisms, concepts, plans, and capabilities to respond to ASF incursion in their localities.
