MAFAR-RDES boosts programs implementation through its first Assessment, Agenda formulation
COTABATO CITY – As part of strengthening the Research and Development and Extension Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, a two-day activity led by the Research and Development and Extension Services led by Director II Tong A. Abas on May 16-17.
The activity, dubbed as 1st Regional Agri-Fishery for Development and Extension Assessment and Agenda Formulation, aims to be held as an avenue to raise issues and concerns and get updates on the status of implementation of their programs and later boost its services.
According to Director Abas, the activity was the first of its kind under his leadership said, “This is the time to formulate plans and activities together with the Research people and to talk about some raised issues and concerns coming from each respective province.”
“We are looking forward to this activity; we will formulate steps on enhancing our programs and services,” he emphasized.
The regional agri-fishery sector plays a critical role in boosting the overall development and economic growth of a region. It contributes to food production, employment generation, poverty alleviation, and rural development.
The 1st Regional Agri-Fishery for Development and Extension Assessment and Agenda Formulation seeks to assess the sector’s current state, identify challenges and opportunities, and devise strategies to enhance productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness.
It also serves as a roadmap for the region’s agricultural and fisheries sector, providing a strategic framework to address identified challenges and harness opportunities. It outlines specific goals, objectives, and action plans designed to enhance the sector’s productivity, resilience, and sustainability.
Highlights of the activity were the presentation of the status and updates on the different Research Outreach Stations offices in the province of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
Also, the presentation of the Approved RDE PPAs Status and Update and the RDE Network Update and Standing Orders for centers and ROSs.
