MAFAR SPEARHEADS PLANTING FESTIVAL IN 50-HA RICE MODEL FARM IN BULDON
The MAFAR, through its Rice Program, once again showcased today (June 20, 2020) the modern technologies in planting rice though the conduct of “Planting Festival’ in the 50-Hectare Inbred Rice Model Farm in Dinganen, Buldon, Maguindanao.
The team from MAFAR, led by Assistant to the Minister for Agricultural Operations Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel, demonstrated the use of walk-behind transplanter that ensures straight row planting.
Rice Program Focal Person Tong A. Abas said the ministry has provided the inputs for the model farm on May 25, 2020 that included 50 bags registered rice seeds, 100 bags urea fertilizer, and 150 bags complete fertilizers.
The establishment of the model farm is one of the production support with funds coming from the Department of Agriculture with the stewardship of Secretary William D. Dar.
Firm on his directives, Minister Mohammad S. Yacob encourages the continued provision of farm inputs and technical assistance to the farmers to ensure increased production and income among them.
The planting festival was attended and appreciated by the farmers. BARMMIARC Center Manager Abdulnasseef S. Ulong and the research associates also assisted in the conduct of the activity.
