MAFAR Sulu holds ManCom meeting

6th Expanded Management Committee Meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform was hosted by the MAFAR Sulu on February 13-17 with the theme MAFAR: Sustaining Quality Services through Inclusive and Participatory Governance.

MAFAR Provincial Office of Sulu, headed by Provincial Director Alfie Iribani, led the three-day meeting in Zamboanga City and two-day field visitation and received a commendation from Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D.

The Mancom designs to present the Physical and Financial Accomplishment of FY 2022 Regular Programs and projects of Provincial Offices, presentation of the 2023-2028 MAFAR Strategic Plan, Presentation of Catch-Up Plan of Services.

It is also created to highlight the resolutions of issues and concerns raised by different MAFAR services and offices to meet the needs of the Bangsamoro people who benefit from the implemented projects.

Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., expressed his gratitude to all participants who showed their participation during the 6th ManCom meeting.

He reminisced how the Bangsamoro people had flunked by many challenges and hardships caused by natural hazards and arm conflicts and how the three flagship programs of MAFAR has been contributed to the Bangsamoro people.

“The need to champion our advocacy and promotion of food security and nutrition is evident. More than ever, food is our most basic need to survive to make sure that everyone has access to clean, affordable, and nutritious food. We need to pave the way through policies that will identify the strategies and activities into our plan,” Minister stressed.

He also said, “This will not be an easy task. We must put our hands together and develop multi-sectoral approaches to address our multi-sectoral challenges. Hence, the need for this food security and nutrition approaches and strategies.”

Part of the activity was MAFARmilya hours which allowed every participant to wear their cultural attires, which also gave importance to one’s culture and identity.

The field visitation in Sulu was for the distribution of Agri-Fishery Inputs, CLOA, and the Launching of ARC at the MAFAR-Sulu Provincial Office, Capitol Site, Patikul, Sulu.

 Also, a site visitation in Maimbung Seaweeds Buying Station, Parang Seaweeds Buying Station, Parang Laum Suwah, Lungkiaban Breeding Station, and Barangay Kandayok, Panamao Sulu.

In addition, key officials from the region and provincial offices of MAFAR attended the activity.
