MAFAR TEAM FINALLY CONFERS WITH SECRETARY DAR
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) and the Department of Agriculture have raised their partnership level with the courtesy visit paid by the ministry to Secretary William D. Dar on September 2, 2019.
The meeting between Secretary Dar and the 10-man team from MAFAR, headed by Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, took place at the conference hall of the Office of the Secretary at the new DA building in Diliman, Quezon City.
Immediately after taking his seat, Secretary told Minister Yacob and the team to consider DA as their office in Manila. He also informed the group that the joint collaboration with BARMM shall be intensified in the coming days.
“We are here to partner with you for the improvement of the agriculture, fisheries, including the agrarian reform sector in your region; we will also work hand in hand towards attaining inclusive agribusiness and complete value chain”, said Secretary Dar. To expedite the programs and services from DA intended for the BARMM, a regional director shall be designated who will work closely with MAFAR and shall concentrate on facilitating the resolution of pressing issues and concerns.
Aside from his announcement of visiting the BARMM soon, Secretary Dar ordered his staff to fast track the processing of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) for the Bangsamoro Region.
Meanwhile, Minister Yacob informed the DA chief that with his five-month administration, the Technical Working Group (TWG) had been created to look into the challenges in agriculture, fisheries, and agrarian reform in the Bangsamoro Region. “We will be one with you in realizing your plans and actions on agrifishery industrialization and modernization and we will work with you in advancing the research and extension services in the region”, Minister Yacob guaranteed.
Before adjourning, Minister Yacob followed up with Secretary Dar, the status of the 2019 banner program funds for the BARMM and was told that possibly, it will be downloaded this month of September after completing corresponding processes.

Solano, Consultant for Special Concerns (Agrarian Reform) Dr Taugan S. Kikay, Consultant for Special Concerns (Fisheries) Matarul Estino, and Information Officer Salembai A. Abdullah.
