MAFAR TO BUILD MULTI-PURPOSE DRYING PAVEMENTS IN MAGUINDANAO

Maguindanao–The Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) on Thursday, January 14, 2021 initiated a groundbreaking ceremony for the five units of the Multi-Purpose Drying Pavement project within two municipalities in Maguindanao province.

Dr. Mohammad Yacob, MAFAR Minister said the project worth PHP2.24 million targets to support farmers with their livelihood activities, particularly during harvest season.

He said the lack of storage facilities and drying pavement remained the main problems of the farmers in the BARMM.

Under the 2019 National Rice program, around 420 sqm per drying pavement unit will be built for the farmers in Brgy. Malala, Datu Paglas, and Brgy. Sapalan, Datu Odin Sinsuat. “This project serves as our response to the problem of our dear farmers,” Yacob said.

Meanwhile, Datu Paglas Municipality Mayor Abubakar Paglas said the project could be a huge help to the farmers to lessen some burdens during the post-harvest operation. Datu Eden Mantawil, Sr., chairperson of Brgy. Sapalan, thanked the regional MAFAR for choosing their town as one of the project beneficiaries.

Other key officials including Director II for Agriculture Services Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel, Chief of Agriculture Services Tong Abas, Director II and Maguindanao Provincial Head, Dr. Ronjamin M. Maulana, Program OIC Head from Engineering Section, Engr. Abdulhaq B. Gayak, Engr. Kiram Solaiman Jr., MAFAR officials, and partner-line agencies have also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
