MAFAR TRAINS FARMERS, DISTRIBUTES VEGETABLE SEEDS UNDER BARMM CONVERGENCE MODEL PROGRAM

Part of the establishment of convergence model farm in BARMM, the MAFAR facilitated the conduct of Practical Training on Vegetable Management and Distribution of Seeds to the farmer-beneficiaries across the Province of Maguindanao on September 22-25, 2020.

The general activity was called Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) Orientation, Vegetable Training, and Distribution of Seeds that was participated by team members from the MAFAR, MENRE, MILG, BPDA, UN-WFP, and the Local Government Unit (LGU).

During the programs, the BPDA gave the overview of the convergence; the MENRE on the Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program (IBGP) “Kayud Ka Bangsamoro (KKB); MAFAR presented the Basic Integration for Harmonized Interventions (BInHI); the MILG discussed the overview of the Disaster Risk Reduction – Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA); and the WFP, thru Daren D. Española, Field Monitor Assistant, did the FFA orientation that included work norms and milestones.

With the team efforts, the convergence activity was accomplished, in series, in Dasawao, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Labungan, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Tamar, Talayan, and Nabalawag, Barira.
Officials from the LGUs supported the conduct of the activity such as the good mayor of Datu Odin Sinsuat Hon. Cheryl Mary Rose Ann L. Sinsuat, Gino T. Ballesteros, MDRRMO of Shariff Saydona Mustapha and other key officials.

The technical member of the team from the MAFAR-BARMM were Rowaida Z. Kado, Agriculturist II and Organic Agriculture Officer In-Charge and Ramil M. Timpolok, HVCDP Focal Person, and Hamsa A. Abdul, Technical Staff from MAFAR-Maguindanao.

Kado and Timpolok shared significant technologies and tips on effective vegetable farming that aimed to empower the farmers to be able increase their productivity and profitability.
