RPCO-BARMM HOLDS RAEB FOR THE COMPLETED FARM TO MARKET ROAD SUBPROJECT

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform-Philippine Rural Development Project (MAFAR-PRDP) Regional Project Coordination Office BARMM in collaboration with the Project Support Office Mindanao conducted Rapid Appraisal of Emerging Benefits for the completed 3km Farm to Market Road at Barangay Manion, Parang, Maguindanao.

Today, February 14, the Project Support Office Mindanao and RPCO-BARMM Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit led the household Interviews covering the impacts of the subproject “Rehabilitation/Concreting of Barangay Manion Farm-to-Market Road. This activity is the first RAEB conducted in BARMM since the Project was completed in 2017.

RAEB is an evaluation initiative of PRDP management focused on determining the success of individual subprojects and how these are aligned and relevant to the Project Development Objectives (PDOs). It is conducted after the completion of the subproject.

Through Household Interviews (HH), Key Informant Interviews (KII), Focused Group Discussions (FGD), and Spot Interviews, the PRDP will be able to determine the impact and success of its emerging benefits brought to the beneficiaries.

In an interview, King Khalid U. Padi, Chairman of Barangay Manion, shared how the Project changed their daily lives. “Before, due to poor road conditions, our farmers suffered from transporting their goods to the market during the harvest.”

“The poor road condition results in a high cost of transportation services, discouraging farmers from farming. Now, having FMR, we can easily access the National Road, from 35-40 minutes of traveling,  we can now access the market in at least 10-15 minutes,” Chairman Padi said.

Chairman Padi also reiterated that one of the significant contributions of the Project in their area is maintaining peace and order. “Due to the good road, our BPATs can easily patrol the area, and if there’s an emergency, the policemen can quickly come for help,” he added.
