SK GOVERNOR LAUDS MAFAR-SUPPORTED #GREENRESERVE PROJECT

“What you have been doing in the BARMM is laudable and we want to replicate it here in Sultan Kudarat”, said Hon. Governor Suharto T. Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat in yesterday’s (June 2, 2020) meeting at the Provincial Capitol with Minister Mohammad S. Yacob of the MAFAR, MP Atty. Suharto Ambolodto of BTA-BARMM, Lt. Coronel Edgardo L. Vilchez, and other significant officials from the 6th Civil Military Operations (KASANGGA) Batallion, of the Philippine Army.

Referring to the joint project of MAFAR, PA, and BTA called #GreenReserve, Governor Mangudadatu emphasized that the project might be small but it really deals with attaining food security and will create a big impact in the lives of the people especially those who have been seriously affected by the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was organized by the ministry’s project partners led by MP Ambolodto before the turnover of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the provincial government for its medical frontliners. The activity aimed at providing more complete details from the main implementers in BARMM and discuss the possible replication of the project in the province.

Minister Yacob recognized that the project has been the result of the solid collaboration with the partners from the army whose passion and willingness to help in the attainment of food security have been ignited by the massive advocacy on home gardening especially on vegetable production.

The MAFAR Chief also stressed that the ministry fully supports the BARMM government in ensuring that the government is brought closer to the communities by giving them directly the assistance they need geared towards providing food in every table of every Bangsamoro family.

Meanwhile, Coronel Vilchez said the #GREENRESERVE project was conceptualized over a cup of coffee and is a platform for convergence to help the government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and with its quest to attain food security. “Through home gardening, we are assured of healthy consumption and we are able to minimize our movement because the supply of food is sustainable at household level”, he added.

The group, along with the civic society organizations, proceeded to the military camp where another vegetable garden shall be established. The MAFAR delivered short lecture highlighting tips in vegetable production and turned over gardening implements to the military men led by Minister Yacob.
