After years of hard work and dedication, a significant milestone was reached for 223 farmers in Barangay Parangan on November 13, 2024. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) Tawi-Tawi awarded 236 Certificates of Land Ownership (CLOAs), officially granting legal ownership of 441.9560 hectares of land to the farmers who have devoted their lives to cultivating it.
MAFAR Provincial Director Dr. Aidarus Nami led the distribution, affirming the significance of the event for the farmers and their families. He highlighted that the CLOAs were not just documents but the result of years of struggle and persistence, marking a turning point for the beneficiaries. He urged them to use their newly acquired lands as tools for growth and prosperity, ensuring better opportunities for future generations.
The Agrarian Reform Division is led by Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Engr. Jimson Jalilul played a critical part in making the event happen. His team laid the framework necessary to guarantee that each CLOA was given correctly and fairly. He stressed the transforming potential of land ownership, pointing out how it enables farmers to achieve stability and security after years of uncertainty. This is intended to provide farmers with the chance to own the land on which they had labored for decades, not just for economic reasons, but also for dignity and optimism.
EnP. Nurulyn Laja, SuARPO pointed out that these certificates are not just pieces of paper, but tools that can change the course of a farmer’s life. For years, many farmers have faced obstacles in fully utilizing their land, and this initiative aims to break those barriers. Laja emphasized that the CLOAs provide a sense of security and ownership, which will help farmers not only increase their productivity but also strengthen their role in ensuring food security for their communities.
MAFAR Municipal Officer of Panglima Sugala, Hja. Jainab Awali, commended the perseverance of the farmers, recognizing the many challenges they faced in their journey toward land ownership. Awali encouraged the beneficiaries to protect and nurture the land they now own, using it to secure a brighter future for their families and contribute to the overall development of their community.
The event was attended by barangay officials, members of the BARC, and other community leaders who came to witness this transformative milestone.
For many beneficiaries, the distribution of CLOAs symbolized the end of a long and difficult journey and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Through this initiative, MAFAR continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering farmers and supporting their quest for a better future.
