LANAO DEL SUR – To enhance agricultural production, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform conducted a Groundbreaking Ceremony for Corn Seed Storage with Solar Dryer in Dagolonan, Tagoloan, on March 8, 2024.
Led by Atty. Khalid Ansano, the Provincial Director of MAFAR Lanao del Sur, along with key personnel, including Engr. Abdulgaphar L. Sansarona, Chief Agriculturist, and regional officials such as Engineer Mastura Akmad, Farm Superintendent II, Esmail Badrudin, and Science Research Specialist II, Baidido Lawan.
This event was significant for the ministry since it underlines the importance of farmers in the BARMM region, particularly those from the Dagolonan Pangkabuhayan Cooperative Services.
The facility spans 15m x 20m storage along with a 20m x 30m solar dryer, preserving crop varieties, minimizing post-harvest losses, and securing food supplies within the community.
Provincial Director Ansano expressed gratitude to all officials involved in the project, highlighting the effective leadership of Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D.
He also acknowledged the farmers who will benefit from the project, recognizing their efforts in advancing agricultural development in BARMM.
“I anticipate that this project will benefit not only the farmers in the area but also those in other barangays of the Municipality of Tagoloan,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Specialist Lawan noted that the community is fortunate to receive seed storage as part of a nationally-funded corn program.
She also emphasized that the ministry’s mandate is to serve Bangsamoro farmers through such programs to ensure their sustainability.
“Maraming salamat po at may dumating na ganitong programa mula sa BARMM para sa aming mga magsasaka dito sa aming barangay,” said Analyn Arnado, the cooperative leader.
In addition, the Groundbreaking Ceremony showcased the collective efforts of the MAFAR Municipal Officer of Tagoloan, the Barangay Local Government Unit, and the community as a whole, coming together to witness the transformative potential of agriculture production in the area.
