To enhance Agricultural Infrastructure in SGA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Multi-Purpose Building with Drying Pavement in Barangay Pedtad, Kabacan, Special Geographic Area (SGA) on September 25, 2024.
This project marks a significant advancement in strengthening the region’s agricultural infrastructure, providing vital support to the local farming community.
Under the leadership of Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., the ceremony was spearheaded by MAFAR engineers Nhorie Jane K. Mowa and Farhana A. Lumna, representing Engineer Mhohiden B. Acoymo, EnP, Chief of the Regional Engineering Division.
This highlights MAFAR’s continued commitment to delivering essential services and innovative solutions across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In a message of support, Ronjamin M. Maulana, Provincial Director of MAFAR Maguindanao, represented by Report Officer Arched Angeles, emphasized the unwavering dedication of MAFAR and the Bangsamoro Government, led by Chief Minister Ahod B. Ibrahim, Al-Hajj.
He encouraged the local community to make full use of the new facility to enhance their agricultural practices and productivity.
Speaking on behalf of Barangay Chairman Pedtad, Kagawad Alinor Mamolid expressed profound gratitude to Allah (S.W.T.) and MAFAR for their steadfast support. He highlighted the positive impact of previous initiatives, such as the BINHI program and the distribution of fertilizers (abuno), stating that this new project will significantly benefit the community.
Kagawad Alinor further remarked, “This project serves a dual purpose. After using it for drying our harvests, it will also function as a space for Islamic activities, given its proximity to both the Madrasa and the Masjid.”
“With the drying pavement conveniently located near the farms, it will be much easier for farmers to dry their harvested crops. The need to transport harvests to distant locations for drying will be eliminated, resulting in considerable savings in time and resources,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ian Jasper Guiamalon, representing IJG Construction Services, expressed pride in partnering with MAFAR on this important initiative. The 14m x 30m facility is designed not only to support agricultural operations but also to serve as a venue for community gatherings and other local events.
In addition, members of the Migkakot Farmer and Fisheries Association were also present at the event, expressing their enthusiasm for the facility’s potential to boost agricultural productivity in the area.
