The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) has successfully conducted a series of turnover ceremonies of vital agri-fishery inputs to cooperatives and associations of the former combatants on November 12-25, 2024.
In Tarragona, Davao Oriental, MAFAR-SDF led the turnover of one refrigerated van along with 1,500 Banana Lakatan seedlings, 1,000 Mangosteen seedlings, 1,000 Rambutan seedlings, 1,000 Lanzones seedlings, and 500 Arabica Coffee seedlings. This support is expected to enhance the cooperatives’ capacity to produce high-value crops and improve product distribution.
Meanwhile, the Sitio Bila Agriculture Cooperative in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, received one unit of fishpond along with essential fishery inputs, including 30 bags of fry mash and crumble, and 50 bags of starter, grower, and finisher feeds. This support will help boost local fish farming activities.
In Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, the Lato-Lato Farmers and Fisherfolk Association from Barangay Paniongan benefited from the turnover of 30 rolls of hog wire and 36 rolls of barbed wire. These materials will help strengthen fencing and improve livestock management in the area.
Additionally, the Hud Agriculture Cooperative in Barangay Gambar, Kabuntalan, received various fishery inputs, including 20 bags of fry mash, 20 bags of crumble, 40 bags of starter feed, and 50 bags each of grower and finisher feeds aims to strengthen fishery operations and cooperative development.
These turnover ceremonies underscore MAFAR’s commitment to empowering cooperatives and associations, enhancing productivity, and promoting sustainable agriculture and fishery development throughout the BARMM and neighboring regions.
