The Saint Mary of Downtown (SMD) Farmers Organization, Inc. from the Regional Project Coordination Office – BARMM proudly showcased their premium coffee products at the DA-PRDP Exhibit and Bazaar held at the Department of Agriculture Central Office in Quezon City which runs from December 2 to December 6, 2024.
This five-day exhibit is part of the 18th World Bank Implementation Support Mission (WB-ISM) for PRDP and the 3rd WB-ISM for the PRDP Scale-Up. It aims to highlight the achievements of PRDP in enterprise development and showcase the products of various Proponent Groups (PG).
SMD Farmers Organization displayed their premium coffee from Lanao del Sur, including green coffee beans, roasted beans, and ground coffee. Their green coffee beans were a hit, selling out 20 kilograms on the very first day of the event.
Key officials, including World Bank Task Team Leader Mio Takada, European Union Delegation Program Manager Alix Wurdak, and DA-PRDP National Project Director Asec. U-Nichols A. Manalo visited the SMD booth and sampled their coffee. The product earned praise for its excellent quality.
During their visit, SMD Chairman Merry Saint C. Ganih proudly shared that the Philippine Coffee Council recently recognized their coffee as one of the top 7 in the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition. Inspired by their achievement, the World Bank and EU representatives assured their commitment to providing further support to SMD, aiming to help them secure the top spot in future competitions.
