COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform – Bangsamoro Autonomous in Region Mindanao (MAFAR-BARMM) through the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture Project Management Office (RSSA-PMO) conducted a Training on RSBSA Georeferencing Use and Operation for Agri-Fishery Extension Workers from Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Special Geographic Area on October 15-30, 2024.
This training aims to improve the technical skills of extension workers in updating the RSBSA profiling and area measurement, which are crucial steps in ensuring the accurate enrollment of farmers and fisherfolk into the RSBSA database.
Dr. Saudi Mangindra, Chief Agriculturist for Maguindanao, expressed his full support for the initiative highlighting that the training is a critical step in empowering the extension workers to help more farmers and fisherfolk access the services they need.
By updating the profiling system through georeferencing, it ensures that the benefits of the programs reach more people in the most efficient way possible.
During the two-day sessions, Binbadz Tending, the RSBSA Focal Person, gave updates on the RSBSA Profiling and Georeferencing, while Salahudin Ali, Georeferencing Focal Person, discussed the guidelines for the georeferencing activity. The operational guidelines for GPS trackers and farm parcel map plotting were presented by Georeferencing Program Assistants Ardisheer Esmail and Krizteen Ruffa Gaylan.
To apply their newfound knowledge, participants engaged in a hands-on field activity, where they practiced georeferencing and GPS tracking in real farm settings. This practical application will allow extension workers to use the tools and techniques effectively in their respective areas, further ensuring the success of the program.
