The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform continued its effort to multiply the livestock production in the region with the distribution of native chickens and goats on January 15, 2023.
A total of 375 native chickens, part of the Livestock Regular Program, and 112 native goats, adhering to Halal Compliant Production standards were distributed to the farmers and cooperatives from the municipalities of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte and Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s steadfast commitment to meeting the region’s rising demand for top-quality meat products.
The distribution of native chickens and goats not only strengthens the overall livestock count but also taps into the economic potential of the Halal industry.
With Senior Agriculturist Engr. Saidona Lawan, leading the Halal Section, the incorporation of Halal-compliant native goats signifies a conscientious effort to cater to the unique dietary preferences of a diverse population.
Moreover, this initiative is expected to generate a ripple effect by fostering self-sufficiency in livestock production, reducing dependency on external sources, and creating a more resilient agricultural environment.
