The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform conducted a comprehensive consultation workshop on the Proposed Bangsamoro Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (BAFAR) Code at the Horizon Suite, General Santos, on February 13-17.
At least 20 MAFAR employees, including officials from the Office of MP Mohammad Y. Yacob, actively participated in the workshop, ensuring thorough discussions on the effectiveness and improvements of the code.
Atty. Nerissa Dalig, Chief of Legal Services, spearheaded the four-day workshop along with Edna Tatel, Consultant from The Asia Foundation, was primarily focused on budget estimation and harmonization with the current BDIP Plan of the ministry, aiming to enhance the BAFAR Code for the ministry’s future betterment.
Atty. Dalig emphasized the significance of the activity, stating, “This is a crucial step that will shape the future of our ministry and promote food security in the Agriculture and Fisheries sector. Today’s main goal is for the BAFAR Code to be approved and certified as an urgent bill.”
She expressed her gratitude to all participants for their input and contributions to finalizing the BAFAR code.
Throughout the workshop, Ms. Edna Tatel shared her expertise in establishing the effectiveness of the BAFAR Code, dedicating time and effort to support the proposed code for its sustainability.
Meanwhile, Rosda Bonda, Political Affairs Officer VI of the Office of MP Mohammad Yacob, said, “Reaching this milestone was not easy, but it serves as a huge accomplishment that will impact and change the lives of beneficiaries in Bangsamoro, providing guidelines for the future after its approval. The achievements of MAFAR are also achievements of our office.”
Chief Amador Tandalong, Planning Officer V of the Policy, Planning, and Evaluation Division, expressed hopes that ALLAH S.W.T. grants the good intentions of the ministry to sustain the needs of all Bangsamoro. He also assured that PPMED is always available for the office’s consultation regarding the BAFAR code.
Furthermore, the proposed BAFAR Code will undergo deliberation before the Legal Liaison Network.
