SOUTH COTABATO – The Inland Resources Management Section (IRMS) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform conducted training to capacitate fisheries personnel on inland water resource management on October 22-25.
This activity aims to capacitate the participants on the importance of conserving inland resources. Provide awareness on the importance of targeted management areas inland and conduct planning workshops for inland resource management in the region.
Chief Aquaculturist Norodin Kid led the training and said this activity is expected to fully capacitate and enhance our understanding of inland water resource management since it involves the sustainable use, protection, and rehabilitation of freshwater resources such as rivers, lakes, and wetlands to support ecosystem and human needs.
He also said good management preserves biodiversity and lessens the effects of climate change while balancing the needs for water from communities, industry, and agriculture.
The topics discussed during the training are FRMD Programs and Activity and status of freshwater stocks and the legal basis for Lake Management (RA 10654 & RA 7160).
