MAFAR TURNS OVER FISH CAGE WITH VITAL RESOURCES TO BOOST BACOLOD FISHERMEN COOPERATIVE’S LIVELIHOOD
As part of the government’s initiative to support local fishermen and promote sustainable fish farming the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, through the Special Development Fund, turned over one unit of a fish cage to the Bacolod Fishermen Cooperative on September 6, 2024 at Barangay Lusain, Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur.
The fish cage, provided by MAFAR-SDF, includes 25,000 milkfish fingerlings, along with 200 bags of starter feed, 200 bags of grower feed, and 200 bags of finisher feed. These resources aim to enhance fish production, ensuring a steady supply of milkfish to the local community and contributing to the livelihood of the cooperative members.
This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening the fisheries sector by providing the necessary tools and resources for local cooperatives. The Bacolod Fishermen Cooperative expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting that this assistance will significantly boost their production capacity and income.
