A total of 150 farmers from Maguindanao del Sur and the Special Geographic Area of BARMM graduated from the school-on-the-air (SOA) on halal free-range chicken raising on Monday, December 23 at BARMMIARC, Simuay, Sultan Kudarat.
This graduation recognizes and celebrates the successful completion of SOA, empowering the farmers with the necessary skills and knowledge for sustainable and productive farming of halal free-range chicken raising.
Representative of Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., Director General for Fisheries Services Pendatun S. Patarasa, MPA said “This is one of the programs that we need to continue. I hope that through this School on the Air program, you have learned a lot that you can apply in your everyday life.”
He said I would encourage all of you to use the knowledge you have gained, as it will add to your understanding, so we can establish what is called sustainable livelihood development.
During the event, farmers from the Municipality of Datu Anggal Midtimbang (15), Datu Hoffer (15), Datu Saudi Ampatuan (15), Datu Paglas (15), Guindulungan (15), Kadayangan (15), Nabalawag (15), Tugunan (15), Malidagao (15), and Ligawasan (15) successfully finished the 3 months of school on the air of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform.
Director General for Agriculture Services, Engr. Ismail Guiamel said, “Through this SOA graduation, receiving a certificate means you’ve completed the course, but true learning is shown when you can apply it in real life and improve your farming techniques that will lead to generating income.”
“For the farmers let’s work together and focus on increasing production and ensuring they are halal. For those who don’t have chickens, they will be prioritized in MAFAR’s upcoming programs,” he said.
He also added that our goal is to ensure that everything—from the food we eat to the way we worship and speak—is halal.
The SOA is a radio program that educates the farmers and fisherfolk through radio broadcasting media, which is the most accessible platform to disseminate new and updated technology to remote areas of the Bangsamoro region facilitated by the Information, Communication, and Technology Section.
