LANAO DEL SUR – The Municipality of Tamparan is set to benefit from a new Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) that will soon be constructed in Barangay Picarabawan.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 22, 2024, in Barangay Picarabawan and was led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) Regional Engineering Division, headed by Engr. Mhohiden B. Acoymo, ABE, EnP, along with the Municipal Mayor of Tamparan, Hon. Mohammad Juhar D. Disomimba.
According to Engr. Acoymo, the new SPIS will have the capacity to supply water to 50 hectares of farmland in Barangay Picarabawan and neighboring areas.
“This project will greatly enhance agricultural productivity by providing a sustainable water source for our farmers. It is a vital step towards modernizing our farming practices and ensuring food security in the region,” he said.
Mayor Disomimba expressed his full support for the project, emphasizing the importance of its successful implementation.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that this project is completed on time and to the highest standards. The local government will closely monitor its progress to make sure it benefits every farmer in Tamparan and neighboring municipalities,” he said.
Engr. Gem Dela Calzada, a representative of GFJ Construction Supply, assured the community that the project would be completed within the set timeframe, promising a well-executed implementation that would meet the needs of the farmers.
