The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, through the Gender and Development program, distributed a total of 36 goat heads to two women’s groups hailing from the towns of Barira in Maguindanao del Norte and Rajah Buayan in Maguindanao del Sur.
On February 5, Diana A. Manalasal, the MAFAR – GAD Alternate Focal, spearheaded the turnover ceremony, providing 17 heads of goat to Darussalam Enhancement Agriculture Producers Cooperative in Barira and 19 heads of goat to Pidsandawan II Economic Association in Rajah Buayan.
According to Manalasal, this livestock intervention empowers women to contribute actively to their families’ livelihoods. The initiative seeks to establish a sustainable source of income for these women, fostering economic independence and enhancing their household roles.
By providing women with the means to engage in goat farming, the MAFAR program envisions fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency. Additionally, this initiative aligns with broader gender and development goals, promoting equality and exclusivity within the agricultural sector.
The recipients expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the potential positive effects on their families’ well-being.
