2ND BANGSAMORO FOOD SECURITY SUMMIT TAKE PLACE AT MAFAR

COTABATO CITY | May 6, 2021

Key Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) participated at the 2nd Bangsamoro Food Security Summit headed by Minister Mohammad S. Yacob Ph.D.

Held at MAFAR Covered Court, BGC, Cotabato City from May 6-7, with the theme “Food for today and Beyond: Transforming Philippine Agriculture.”

The activity is a conjoint effort of the World Food Program (WFP), Department of Agriculture (D-A), MAFAR-BARMM, and other concerned agencies.

World Food Programme Country Director Brenda Barton via zoom said, “ I encourage everyone to work together for the same purpose of having food secured in every Bangsamoro people.

“I believe that making the food and nutrition a high priority will boost the availability of food among the Region,” Barton stressed.
The goal of the Food Security Summit is to craft a strategic action plan in the region to address the emerging challenges and probable of the agriculture and fisheries industry.

Meanwhile, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ibrahim said, “The collaboration among every concern individuals will transform the living condition of all Bangsamoro people.”

The Department of Agriculture National Secretary William Dar via Zoom Congratulates the BARMM Region to fulfill the Security Summit.
“The FSS launch in the mids of the pandemic to response the COVID-19 to secure that there is enough supply of food in every Bangsamoro table,” Sec. Dar said.

MAFAR Minister Yacob emphasizes that the conduct of the activity serves as an opportunity to create and propose suggestions to find solutions to increase the availability of food supply.

In addition to this, Different key officials from the ministry, MAFAR-Maguindanao, and partner line agencies were present in the activity. At the same time, the Provincial offices of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Lanao del Sur participated via Zoom.
