RAFC CONSULTATIVE MEETING POSITIONS TO DISCUSS THE AGENDAS OF THE COUNCIL

COTABATO CITY | July 9, 2021

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform – BARMM through the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) has conducted its regular consultative meeting, which is positioned to discuss the council’s established agendas.

Hamzur Zaid, a RAFC coordinator, said the meeting attended by the MAFAR officials on Thursday, July 9, 2021, aimed to solidify the council’s targets for 2021, as well as revisit and assess its accomplishments last year.

Director II for Agriculture Services and the concurrent BRAFC Executive Officer Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel pointed out in his statements that Agriculture and Fishery Councils (AFCs) are vital partners of the agri-fishery in identifying the eligible beneficiaries of the program interventions.

He emphasized in his message that there is a need to collaborate with the designated MAFAR Municipal Officers in the project implementation at the ground.

He also challenged the AFCs to conduct community works and other initiatives.

AFCs played an essential role in the harmonization of data.

Moreover, BRAFC Co-chairperson Minister Mohammad S. Yacob reiterated to the participants that the Bangsamoro Government is in the process of establishing its government and also a must for the council.

He said that the meeting is an excellent venue to revisit, review the guidelines and restructure the composition of the council. He recommended changing the RAFC to BRAFC adding Bangsamoro to the acronym. He highlighted that since the region has autonomy compared to the other region, the council can lobby support from the Government of the day.

It also became the venue for the BRAFC-BARMM pre-election, where it was agreed to appoint Dr. Salik B. Panalunsong, Alhadj as the council chairperson at Golden Lace Cotabato City.

It is a regular initiative of the council to develop strategies and practical approaches to accomplishing and reaching the ministry’s mission to implement comprehensive programs for the people of Bangsamoro.

Adapting to the “new normal” situation, the activity has complied with minimum health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health.
